Infinity Ward removed Warzone 2 DMZ’s famous map Building 21 on December 20 without prior notice. It is causing confusion and frustration among players. While the map was always intended to be a temporary addition, its sudden removal led to accusations of “time-gating content for no reason.”
Theories on Warzone 2 DMZ’s Building 21
Building 21 has gained much attention from players due to its mysterious nature and the fact that it can only be accessed through critical cards found in the DMZ. Recently, a theory has emerged suggesting that Building 21 is located within the Verdansk area of the game, which was previously destroyed by a large-scale zombie invasion.
The map is set to return, with an in-game timer stating that it will return on December 24. It is unclear at this time if this timer will be delayed or if it will be updated to reflect the actual return of Building 21.
In the meantime, players can farm keycards to access Building 21 in the DMZ area and prepare for its return by reading guides and outfitting their guns with the most effective attachments for the intense firefights on the map.
The theory (via YouTuber GeekyPastimes) suggests that Building 21’s purpose as a “biohazard lab” and its location within a crater on the mini-map points to it being located within the remains of Verdansk. The crater of Building 21 may contain the ruins of a devastated Verdansk. As you might remember, Verdansk was last seen being blown to pieces after a significant zombie invasion. Although the YouTuber calls their theory “fan fiction,” its ominous tone and objective nature support this idea.
On the other hand, in-game timer for Building 21 indicates that the mode will return on December 24. We will have to wait and watch whether that timer is delayed and if it genuinely indicates when Building 21 will return to the game.
