Call of Duty has used the prestige system for the last 12 years. Regularly, when you max out your level in prestige, you will reset your level while locking away everything you had worked hard for. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot is changing that up.
What Happens When You Prestige in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?
In Modern Warfare, “prestige” is no longer a thing. Replacing it is “Officer Ranks.” When you reach level 55, you will no longer reset your progress. Officer Ranks are a seasonal ranking system that comes with rewards and 100 additional ranks to progress through. At Officer Rank 1, you receive a cosmetic Weapon Blueprint for your service. Think of it more as adding battle pass levels to unlock rather than starting from scratch with all of your hard-earned rewards locked away.
Officer Ranks use the same base form of XP that had you level up to 55. Completing matches and challenges while getting kills and objective XP will level you up the same way. Every time you go up an Officer Rank, you unlock an Officer Challenge.
Like your typical challenges, Officer Challenges will reward plenty of XP when you complete them with the bonus of a Seasonal Ribbon. When you earn 10 Ribbons, you receive a Seasonal Emblem. Every additional 10 Ribbons you earn will modify that emblem showing your progress. When you earn 100 Ribbons, your emblem becomes animated and shows that you are maxed out for that season. You also receive another cosmetic Weapon Blueprint for maxing out your rank.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For the first time, it will not have a paid Season Pass so your $60 entry fee is all you will need to pay out to enjoy what will be one of the most popular games of 2019.
