The Call of Duty franchise is no stranger to adding new game modes to each iteration of its games. Zombies is no exception to that, with changes to game modes coming in almost every title. In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, a new game mode sits right alongside the franchise’s traditional endless mode fans are in love with. This mode, called Die Maschine 20 Round, does not explain what it is, having the same description as the endless mode. We gave the mode a try to figure out what 20 round means.

Die Maschine 20 Round does not mean that you will immediately start your zombies game at round 20 or anything like that. It merely means you are playing a classic endless match, but instead of going until you die (or exfil), the moment you finish round 20, the game forces you into an exfil.

Die Maschine 20 Round is a great game mode if you only want to play for about an hour. Traditional zombie matches tend to go on for hours (depending on how long you stay alive). Between holding a zombie to make sure every player gets the set up they want and fighting your way through each round, matches can seem to drag, so this is a good alternative if you wish to have a contained game time.

In our limited time playing Die Maschine 20 Round, we noticed no other gameplay differences, map changes, or enemy toughness. Like anytime exfilling at higher rounds, round 20 is quite tricky for everyone to escape if they do not have the proper equipment, so your team is actually on a timer to get the proper equipment to fight off the final horde.
