When Warzone 2.0 arrives, it will include several signature game modes like battle royale, once again playable as a solo soldier and in teams of two, three, or four. Warzone 2.0 will also introduce a new game type to Call of Duty: DMZ. You’re invited to “play your way in a completely new Warzone experience,” but what does that mean exactly? Here’s what we know about what DMZ is in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0.
DMZ Mode in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 explained
The Call of Duty blog explains what you can expect from DMZ in Warzone 2.0. It’s “an open-world, narrative-focused extraction mode,” and getting through it means taking on various missions for different factions, completing other small objectives, battling other players and AI opponents, and tracking down different kinds of collectibles and other valuables. Of course, the ultimate goal is exfiltration, but you’ll need to tick off some of those mission boxes before doing so.
You must pick the faction you want to join: The Legion, White Lotus, or Black Mous. After selecting one of the factions, undergo missions for them to learn about the DMZ, earn more items, and the powers struggle for the region. Alongside the faction-based tasks are side objectives that you’ll want to complete.
Other players participating in your game will likely have different objectives from you, meaning everyone has a different reason for being there. Everything you earn while playing must be placed and carried in your backpack. If you can’t carry it yourself, don’t take it with you. You can extract from the mission anytime with everything you’ve earned from your current mission. If you unlock a weapon while exploring the DMZ, it becomes available in other game modes. However, if you die in the DMZ, it’s game over.
When is the release date for Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0?
As for the launch of Warzone 2.0, Call of Duty players will be happy to know that it’s not far off. The Warzone 2.0 release date is Wednesday, November 16. It’s running on the same new engine as Modern Warfare 2, and it’s also coming to the same platforms, namely the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. Crossplay is expected across all those platforms, although it has yet to be confirmed.
There are only a few days before Warzone 2.0 and DMZ arrive (although some players have already glitched into its menu). While you wait for the launch, you can check out the full Al Mazrah map and points of interest and start planning your drops.
