Announced alongside Kingdom Hearts 4, Kingdom Hearts Missing Link is a brand new mobile game addition to the Kingdom Hearts series. With a trailer and first look revealed at the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary Event held in Tokyo on April. 10, the mobile game turned some heads.

Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link seems to take the gameplay and combat of Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, and bring them to mobile in great graphical fidelity. The game looks like a natural successor to those games, and will feature multiple characters that you can swap between controlling.

But beyond that, it’s speculated that the game will use elements of more modern mobile titles to create a unique experience. For example, some have suggested the game might use a Pokémon Go-like system for players to find enemies and Heartless across an open world.

Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link will release its closed beta in 2022. It’s currently announced to be available on iOS and Android. However, it was also revealed that it would only be released in specific regions.

The game is being developed in-house by Square Enix, meaning you can expect the polish and quality of a mainline Kingdom Hearts game, although it seems like the game will definitely cover a side story.
