The Pokémon franchise is one of the most popular IPs in the world, and it has expanded to several different game genres. The series and its adorable creatures fill fans’ lives, from the classic RPG experience to Pokémon Go. But, a new way to Pokémon may be finally arriving.
Pokémon Sleep was announced back in 2019 with an expected release of 2020, but has gone radio silent for two years with little indication of what it is. What is known is that the app tracks the users’ sleep and uses the Pokémon Go Plus+ accessory to create sleep-related gameplay with the mission to make sleeping into entertainment.
While this may sound like a crazy and radical idea and the two years of silence about the game may indicate its cancellation, that may not be the case. In April of 2021, an SSL certificate was registered, which hints at upcoming news. Furthermore, Dataminers have found files and codenames that indicate Pokémon Sleep resurfacing.
There is still no clear indication of what Pokémon Sleep is, but something may be brewing behind the scenes, and The Pokémon Company could be gearing up to reveal more finally. The company has never been afraid to take risks, so it should certainly be interesting whatever this new game is.
