How to play The Cycle: Frontier
Your goal in The Cycle: Frontier is to survive while scavenging as many resources as you can. There are multiple factions in-game, and you can take on tasks from each of these. They may ask you to bring back a certain material, kill a number of creatures, and more. Completing these not only earns you credits but also increases your standing with each faction and unlock unique rewards.
Combat is first-person shooter style, and you will be battling enemy players and hostile aliens. You can opt to play alone, with friends, or with strangers—just be ready for a possible betrayal. Regardless of how you play, the stakes are high, as each death will cost you.
When you are ready to escape the planet, call in an evacuation at one of the evac sites. Be aware that there may be other players lying in wait for an easy kill. Other players can hear and see your evacuation ship, so do a sweep of the evac site before calling one in.
Is there permadeath?
There is a type of permadeath in The Cycle: Frontier. When you die, you will drop everything you are carrying on the planet. But, you can store items in certain slots to ensure that it returns to the space station on your death. Additionally, you can ensure items with insurance to make sure it survives your demise.
