In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are a number of ways you can find Shiny Pokemon, such as from the usual random encounter, Pokemon Egg, when there’s an Outbreak, or through Sparkling Power Sandwich; however, your best bet would be breeding Pokemon using Masuda Method.

Simply put, Masuda Method is a technique where you can multiply the odds of getting a Shiny Pokemon Egg by breeding compatible Pokemon (the same Egg Group or a Ditto) from two different real-life regions or language options obtained through trading. For example, say you’re Alex from the US, and you have a male Skeledirge. You then trade one of your Pokemon with a female Skeledirge from まゆみ from Japan. If you breed both Skeledirges, then there’s an increased likelihood of them spawning an Egg for a Shiny Fuecoco!

As you can see, utilizing both Masuda Method and the Shiny Charm item will multiply the rate of Shiny Pokemon Egg by eight times! Obviously, Pokemon collectors would want to use this technique to cut their time looking for Shinies. The other best method that you should do to hunt Shinies is using Shiny Charm when there’s an Outbreak and eating Level 3 Sparkling Power Sandwich. For Shiny Charm itself, you will be given by Jacq in the Biology Classroom of Naranja/Uva Academy after you have completed the Paldea Pokedex.

The method itself is named after the series’ developer Game Freak director Junichi Masuda. Back in December 2007, in order to incentivize the then brand new online Global Trade System capability, he wrote that cross-regional breeding in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl could increase the chance of spawning Shiny Pokemon Eggs. Since then, this feature has also been a staple in other mainline Pokemon games to encourage players to trade with other Trainers all over the world.
