FromSoftware has become synonymous with challenging video games. The company created massive success stories like Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. These games offer a challenging gameplay loop with lore for players to explore, including their newest title, Elden Ring.
Elden Ring takes place in the Lands Between, a world governed by Queen Marika the Eternal. The Erdtree’s source, known as the Elden Ring, has been destroyed in the Lands Between. Players must defeat the children of Marika to claim the Great Runes, shards of the Elden Ring, to reunite them and restore the Erdtree. Should players succeed in reuniting the fragments of the Elden Ring, they’ll become an Elden Lord, taking the power of the Elden Ring as their own.
One significant difference between Elden Ring and the other Soulsborne games is that George R. R. Martin, the creator of the Game of Thrones epic fantasy book series, helmed the project’s story and lore.
Elden Ring releases for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC on Feb. 25, 2022.
