What Remains of Edith Finch has officially launched on iPhone and iPad, and is already available on the App Store.
Published by Annapurna Interactive and developed by Giant Sparrow, What Remains of Edith Finch is a critically acclaimed title that was released back in 2017. It won the coveted BAFTA Game of the Year award, as well as the category for Best Narrative during the Game Awards.
What Remains of Edith Finch is a classic example of an indie studio’s creative genius. In this journey, players explore the protagonist’s house and surrounding areas. The whole is narrated by the title’s main character, Edith Finch, guiding you through a series of vignettes and story beats that relate to the death of each of Edith’s relatives. Each segment of the game has a different playstyle and genre, keeping the player engaged at every turn.
Giant Sparrow is also behind the well-received title The Unfinished Swan, which won two BAFTA awards back in 2013: one for Innovation, and the other for Debut Game.
What Remains of Edith Finch Re-release: More Indie Goodness
Besides that, Annapurna Interactive possesses an excellent track record when it comes to publishing quality indie games. One of our own personal favorites remains Sayonara Wild Hearts, developed by Simogo – a game difficult to describe without spoiling the experience. We’re also looking forward to the upcoming Solar Ash, a title being developed by Heart Machine, which had previously made Hyper Light Drifter.
A title such as What Remains of Edith Finch is certain to find a cozy home within the realm of mobile gaming. The game is perfect for casual sessions here and there, whether while commuting to work or traveling otherwise. It’s also worth noting that the game is the first one that Annapurna Interactive ever published – perhaps just another reason why the publisher decided to show the game some more love after four years.
