Earlier this year, we saw WhatsApp test new playback control features for voice messages on its messaging platform. The company added the feature for public users later, and WhatsApp has now started rolling out a much-welcome feature that lets users listen to a preview of their voice messages before sending them.

As for how it works, users will need to record their voice messages on WhatsApp in hands-free mode to get a preview of the voice messages. So, once you tap the mic icon to record your voice message, you can slide your finger upwards to enter the hands-free mode. This way, you would not need to hold the mic icon to record your voice.

Once you are in hands-free mode, you would notice a new stop button appear in the middle. Tapping this button would stop the recording process and will provide you with a preview of the voice message you just recorded.

Here, you can tap the play button to listen to the preview of the message, delete it using the trash can button at the bottom left, or send it to your desired recipient using the send button at the bottom right.
